We speak to Jessica Shelton-Agar, managing director of Online Travel Training, to hear how its courses and training tools can help you stand out from the crowd
Can you tell us a little bit about OTT and the courses you offer?
Online Travel Training (OTT) is the go-to platform for those in the industry who want to learn, grow and thrive. We offer free, interactive online training designed to boost people’s product
knowledge and confidence.
Our mission is to equip travel professionals with the knowledge to effectively sell products and services, allowing them to provide exceptional customer service to their clients.
With more than 80 live courses and others added regularly, we cover everything from airlines and cruise lines to destinations, hotels and tour operators.
How can people looking to get into the industry use your courses to their benefit?
If you’re dreaming of a career in travel, OTT is the perfect place to start. Our courses give you insider knowledge that employers love to see, including destination insights, airline updates and hotel highlights. You’ll learn about a range of products and services, what customers want and how to match them with the right products. It’s like getting a backstage pass to the travel world, helping you stand out in interviews and hit the ground running when you land that first role.
What other tools does OTT offer to people interested in a career in travel?
Those who are building towards a career in travel can create their own OTT profile in the personal learning hub. It tracks your progress, stores your certificates and recommends new courses to help you stay on track and move forward. You can also join live webinars and virtual training sessions where you’ll hear from industry suppliers and experts. We also offer a range of Iata-accredited Amadeus and Sabre courses to enhance your global distribution system (GDS) skills.
How can people keep up to date with the new tools and courses that OTT provides throughout the year?
Stay connected with our twice-monthly email newsletters. They’re packed with fresh course launches, webinar invites and incentive news. It’s the easiest way to stay informed and inspired – no scrolling, no searching, just the latest updates delivered straight to your inbox.
Do you have any advice for people looking for a career in travel?
Be proactive and stay curious. The travel industry rewards those who show employers that they’re serious, informed and ready to contribute. Share what you learn on LinkedIn, in interviews or with peers. It positions you as someone engaged and knowledgeable. And don’t underestimate webinars and networking events: they’re great for making connections and hearing from the people who might one day hire you. Continue learning, stay committed and let your enthusiasm shine.
